Spay/Neuter Program

AWASA was the beneficiary of an unexpected windfall of $20,000 from the Pima County Board of Supervisors in spring 2004. The money was earmarked for spay and neuter surgeries on companion animals for underserved residents of Pima County. Since then, AWASA has continued to receive money from the county to provide spay/neuter for needy Southern Arizonans, including our current grant of $100,000 for 2009.

In addition, AWASA has received grants from the Arizona Pet Plates Spay/Neuter Fund. We have received a total of $28,000 since 2007, including $10,000 for 2009. In 2009 we were able to alter 158 pets: 56 dog spays, 33 dog neuters, 44 cat spays and 25 cat neuters.

We are very grateful to both Pima County and the Pet Plate Fund for helping us fix more animals.
